Dance Yourself Happy Using Music as a Self-Help Tool
Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us. – Martin Luther
Change your state, get happy by dancing to music you love. Dance yourself happy.
I always thought I loved music, and I do, but it did not occur to me that the only time I listened to music was when I was working out or when I was trying to tune out noise at work or when I needed to be hyper focused. I never listened to music for fun, in fact, I have thought, “Why do people dance?” seriously “Why do people dance?”
Then the answer came,
…because they are happy, having fun and living. As strange as this sound, this revelation did not come to me until my friend told me about a song by Pharrell Williams aptly named “Happy.” Okay, both my friend and I are in the stone age when it comes to pop-culture. So sadly, we heard the song about a year after it was released, but much like everything in life, when the student is ready the teacher will come so we are never late. It was the perfect song, for my friend and I because it come to us in one of the happiest moments in our lives.
When I got home that night, I went to the website that had the song on a 24-hour loop, and then something happened. I started to dance. I danced for no reason. I dance because I was happy, and the happier I got, the more I danced. So now I have a scheduled “Dance Yourself Happy” two to three nights a week.
Set a schedule on your calendar for at least one day a week, to dance yourself happy. Even if you don’t get a chance to dance, the reminder is enough to shift your mood to happy. I have to say, even a two-minute wiggle is sufficient to accomplish this goal.
The subconscious is often impressed through music. Music has a fourth-dimensional quality and releases the soul from imprisonment. It makes wonderful things seem possible, and easy of accomplishment!
