Finding your North Star Finding Your Purpose

Finding your North Star Finding your purpose

A simple and holistic approach to finding your purpose.

I have spent my entire adult life trying to figure out this “purpose” thing. I have taken classes and still no dice.

Then the one day I decided it was time to give it all up, it showed up. The one thing I would do even if I weren’t getting paid for it. The one thing I spend all my day thinking about, doing, feeling, loving. It just showed up.

The one thing that had been a constant in my life, I couldn’t believe it. I had a purpose, I had a North Star, and it was there all along.

My work as a lightworker, a Personal Development Person, a Guruette. My goal to touch one person each day. It turned out that one person was me. And My North Star is you.

Finding Your North Star Finding Your Purpose

The constant in my life is knowing that each message in a bottle I send out, perhaps reaches one person.

Cultivating Belief

Create success today, plant and nurture empowering beliefs

I have always said to myself, everything heals in three days, or that I am back to normal in three days. Perhaps I should change that number to two days.

Three-day healing is a belief that has manifested in my life over and over regardless of whatever it is my body wants to heal entirely it takes three days. Three days to heal the surface of a cut, (I just cut my figure a few days ago) Yes, typing is a new experience with part of one finger out of commission.

But three days later, the finger was doing a lot better.

That is a belief I cultivated unconsciously and has held up in my life.

Cultivating Belief

Experiences have created most of our beliefs, good, bad, and ugly. It takes some work, growth, and observation to identify those beliefs that aren’t serving us, and working to shed them. However, paying attention to these beliefs give them more power. It’s like trying not to think about an elephant right now.

Did someone say elephant?

Shedding old beliefs takes too much effort, especially since that effort only gives them more fuel.

Don’t give beliefs that don’t serve you power by thinking about them.

I Have a New Plan for Cultivating Beliefs

Maybe you don’t try to change the ones you have. You build new ones over them. You know, like how new cities are built over ancient ones, soon the old cities are forgotten.

Hang with me for a minute on this, it is my experience that beliefs don’t go away, it takes effort, and some of the beliefs we have cultivated in our DNA, don’t go away. You wake up every day deciding to be exactly who you want to be regardless of all those beliefs lurking in the recesses of your mind.

Today, I am going to choose to be great. I choose to be happy. I will feel good. I am going to be productive.

With new beliefs that empower, encourage, and enhance your life, you find yourself using less effort to establish these routines.

Let me share my Cultivating Belief Story with you

A few years ago, I decided to cultivate the happy habit. I didn’t embark on a journey to remove the old beliefs from my life since I’d been doing that for over 15 years, and it wasn’t working.
I got off the sofa and said, enough, I will no longer let fear and constant waiting to rule my life. I want to feel better more often than not.

That was it.

The first step is the hardest, I made a few calls to the two people I had been dreading, and I swear the response from the Big U was instantaneous. WOW!

The moment I made that shift, I decided I wanted to be happy and being in the dark hiding from the truth wasn’t making me feel better. However, I had some hard truths about myself and the way I had been thinking and living that I had to face.

And that was it.

Next Steps to Cultivating Belief

Self Help Tools

Of course, I turned to self-help tools, I was reading The Game of Life by Florence Scovel-Shinn and decided to dot the May Cause Miracles: A 40-Day Guidebook of Subtle Shifts for Radical Change and Unlimited Happiness by Gabby Bernstein. By the way, there was magic in my finding the Gabby book.

That summer I’d learned about Hooponopno, the ancient Hawaiian ritual for letting go of the past. A super simple energy shifting mantra that helps you start to see changes in your life on an energetic level.

Just saying the words thank you for the positive changes that I started noticing in my life. But also for the magic that the Universe turned on in my life, which included a magical trip to Florida with my best friend, and love of my life Jacs. Gratitude is a powerful tool to help you change your perspective and eventually your beliefs.

A few months in I was a completely different person because I cultivated a new set of beliefs. Are those old cities still lying dormant underneath this new foundation? Yes, most days. Even though I still hear whispers, I acknowledged them, and let them pass. Mainly because I love this new city, this new life, so much that there is no room for the old one anymore.

A Reminder

The beliefs don’t go away with attention. Like the ancient cities, they go away when you forget they are there, and make sure you catch yourself when you go digging and stop.

What New Beliefs can you Cultivate today?

– Strategies to feel better now without spending a dime and taking baby steps.

Part two of Four Stages of Happiness
My goal is to share tips and tools that are effortless in most cases. Once you start with effortless, doing things that take a little more effort don’t seem as hard.

Make Someone Smile

I said, “Without spending a dime.”
Make it a goal to make at least one person smile each day. That is the base goal, anything else after that is extra. It can be a coworker or the homeless person on the corner. Do your part each day to share the light. This is a secret task you have to yourself, and no one else has to know you have accomplished this goal each day.

Say Thank You

It doesn’t matter if you can’t find one thing to be grateful for right now. Also picture me giving you an epic side eye because you can find at least ten things to be grateful for right now, so there.

Most important

Focus on things that delight you

What makes you feel good? When do you feel great? What makes you happy? Who makes you feel good? What do you like? What do you like about yourself, your life, your living conditions? Please find one thing; just one thing will start the magic flowing.

My favorite book, Artemis Fowl, yes, I am a ten-year-old at heart, has a scene where to get all her magic back, Holly, a fairy, has to bury an acorn in a tiny patch of soil she has dug up in the concrete dungeon, okay the basement, she is imprisoned in. Just a little patch, she gets to plant the acorn, and she gets all her magic back.

That is the same as finding something that delights you find something small, find your patch.

Here are some examples:

I love my ankles. I like my lips. Actually, I love my lips. Yeah that it. That is more than enough. Give it a few months, and you will love your whole body, inside out.

Jeeezus, I’ve wanted to move for the last fifteen years, I hate this place. First, never use the words hate again, and if you happen to accidentally let it slip then, quickly change to something like, “What lovely weather we have today?”

How about you focus on that beautiful tree you get to see from those impressive bay windows, this allows you to focus on something other than all the crap you still need to put away on the other side of the bay windows.

Or the light the comes in the bedroom that you get to experience only on weekends as the ridiculously placed windows only allow light in for one hour a day between eleven and noon depending on daylight savings.

Then there’s that corner that magically manages to be the best place in the whole apartment; focus on that, and one year later, you move into your dream home. That’s how the magic works.

Create your own Happy Moments

Romance (if that is what you are looking for)
Stop saying how much you love living alone, and how awesome a time you have by yourself. Get a rose quartz crystal or Gustave Klimt poster and start to visualize opening up to someone else. This one starts with you. You will need to say the words, I love you, to yourself and mean it. Then open your heart. Think about what a relationship feels like to you, then what it looks like, and keep that picture in your mind.

Bloom where you are planted. Start loving the job you have, especially if you can’t leave. Find one task you love, and think about it when you wake up and have to go to work. Most important part of having a job and the one big thing that should delight you is your paycheck, and what it affords you.

See Work.
Also giving thanks when you pay bills, that was one I learned from Rhonda Byrne’s book The Magic. I always write, “paid, thank you.” On every bill I pay. Thank you when I pay for something and try not to remember when I couldn’t afford it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You get my drift.

You get to create your happy moments. These are some of mine. They worked for me because it is so much easier, nicer and rewarding to focus on the things that delight you, if only for the FACT that what you focus on expands.

Focus on the good, and it multiplies.

The Four Stages of Happiness

The Four Stages of Happiness

The Four Stages of Happiness

I’d love to share my four stages of happiness with you.

My favorite things in the world are happy moments. Can I hear a “DuH!” When you spend the bulk of your life chasing a carrot on a stick only, to discover you were holding the carrot all along, you appreciate carrots a lot more.

That said let’s get serious, nahhhh!

The Four Stages of Happiness

There is a range of feeling happy; it goes from feeling good to Bliss Particles. I started to notice these stages when I took it upon myself to cultivate the happy habit

Feeling Good

Feeling good is not feeling bad, anxious, worried, scared, fearful, or guilty.
It means not anticipating feeling bad in the future, or remembering when you were feeling bad in the past. When you are feeling great you feel a sense of wellbeing, like you know you will be okay.

You feel in control, and know you can power through whatever comes your way if you keep a calm head, relax, and observe what is going on around you. (more…)

Your Beliefs Create your Life Think Wisely

Your Beliefs Create your Life

“If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you are right.” Henry Ford

Your beliefs create your life. What are your beliefs? Your beliefs are pretty much all that you think yourself to be. Your beliefs are manifested in your life. This is a fact you can prove to yourself right now. What are you creating? Look around you, what things are in your life right now, that you can say for a fact is the result of something you believe yourself to be?

Do you believe yourself to be an organized person? Or do you say to yourself, “I walk into a room, and a tornado walks out”? Are you good at math, or you need a calculator to come up with an answer for two plus two? Are you smart? Do you tell yourself how dumb you are? Can you write? Are you good at anything? What are you saying to yourself? And what are you creating?

Thoughts Create your Beliefs

You didn’t create your beliefs overnight; they are the results of random experiences in your life that just happened to take root. (more…)
