Becoming your Best Self is a transformation that begins in your mind. It is that easy. You just have to decide who your Best Self is and start living as that person now. I know the concept of becoming your Best Self is nothing new, but most of us spend time chasing what we want while trying to become the person of our dreams. The dream is always hanging in the future just out of our reach, but what is stopping you from living as your Best Self from exactly where you are today?
The concept of living as your Best Self now is based on the idea of Creative Imagination. Creative Imagination is using your imagination to move through life living as if your goals are accomplished.
Take a leap from where you are now, you do not need to go shopping, just pick out clothes and shoes from your closet that make you feel your best and put them on knowing you are facing the world as your Best Self. As you start to tell yourself this, you can imagine how your Best Self would carry herself, how she would speak to people and then you start doing it.
This is Creative Imagination at work, you just start to imagine every moment in your life as if you are living as your Best Self and before you know it you will be your Best Self.
Once again, the transformation is in your mind, to best illustrate this point I am going to compare my old mainstream visualization technique versus Creative Imagination. I used the vision board technique, with an inspiration picture of the person I was going to become when all the stars lined up, and my life was the vision of perfection that I had in my head. I would conjure up an image of a woman whom I adored, and I would wonder how she felt, who was in her life, and how she lived. Then one day it occurred to me that I could be this person right now. I could wake up in the morning and live the rest of my life as my Best Self, and that is exactly what I did.
Old Visualization vs. New Visualization (Creative Imagination)
My old visualization technique sustained me until I learned that there was an even more powerful method of using the power of your mind to create the life of your dreams. After reading the book Power of Awareness by Neville Goddard and finally grasping the concept of using the power of your imagination, it occurred to me that you don’t look at your goals as a point to reach for in the future when you are visualizing or thinking about what you want. You become your Best Self; you become that which you wish to manifest now. You walk through life acting, feeling and thinking as the person you want to be, or as having the things you want. This is how you implant that data in your subconscious mind, you “Act as if,” and “you become it”. It is not “think about it,” and “hope you become it.”
My old method of visualization was akin to that dream you have with your outstretched hand reaching out for a moving object that you never catch. This apparently is a reason most goals are never achieved; you keep seeing yourself as chasing the goal.
Becoming Your Best Self
I realized that I didn’t have to try to become this person, I had to become her now. I would move around the world as my Best Self in the body I have right now. The shift was instantaneous. I knew what she was like, what she would wear, how she would speak to people around her, how she would walk, how she would think because she was me. So, I walked into my closet and pulled out clothes my Best Self would wear. I was going to walk in shoes my Best Self would wear and live in a home my Best Self would live in now. I would interact with the world as my Best Self. In less than a week, I was my Best Self. Since then, I have cleaned out my closet, my home, and head, there is no looking back, some morning I even say to myself, “hey, you are only feeling 85% of your best self, you need to fix that now.” I do what Tony Robbins calls getting into state, mine usually involves a “Wonder Woman” pose and boom, I am 100% again.

I use my “Your Best Self” gauge to keep myself in check. If I am wearing clothes that I feel slightly uncomfortable in, they are out the door (the donation pile that is). If I am slumped over and moving through life not feeling my best, it is time to take a minute to reconnect with my Source. I live life as My Best Self, and my Best-Self does not cut corner, she watches what she eats, and makes her home a sanctuary.
The best part of living life as Your Best Self is people start to notice the difference, and treat you differently. Because when you walk through life as your Best Self, the world treats you that way too.
Now I am my Best Self, the Best Self I can be today, and she is (I am) creating the world of my dreams in as effortless a manner as possible. Talk about Downstream Living.
